Friday Quick Takes

I think it’s about time for some quick takes. Happy Weekend everyone!

one. St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow! I’ve been meaning to get this book to read with my kids. We have friends from out of the country visiting for dinner, and I’ve been planning a riff on the typical St. Patrick’s day meal. This brisket, these biscuits, and a lemony citrus slaw. I also debated about this Irish Guinness brown bread.

two. I somehow managed to get seeds started, with lots of involvement from the kids. One afternoon we got the seeds out to check inventory. Another day the kids planned what they wanted to grow, they’ll have their own plots this year. Another we made a list and made a trip to the garden store. And then we got out little pots, filled them with soil, and the kids scattered seeds. Now we have seedlings! Cucumbers, tomatoes, kale, spinach, mini napa cabbage, basil, and zinnias.

three. I’d love to switch over to green beauty, I’ve been browsing this guide.

four. I’m currently reading this, it’s a children’s chapter book that was also made into a movie. It’s been a great read and interesting insight into the world of someone with facial anomalies. I plan to read it to my kids when they’re a little older.

five. Another book, this one for cooking. It’s vegan which might make many gasp and look away, BUT what I love about this that there aren’t a lot of crazy ingredients that you have to go out of your way to find and everything looks so tasty. I made the cookies for breakfast, and they were awesome. I’m planning to make them regularly.
