Dr. Teresa Ku-Borden’s voice is one that I am really honored to share on A Growing Home Podcast. She’s a doctor and mother serving in East Los Angeles. In this week’s episode, Teresa shares about how doing art has helped her process emotions and connect with her community during the pandemic. 
 
We recorded this episode in the fall, after Teresa had multiple rounds in the hospital working with COVID patients. Right now, her hospital has been hit hard during the recent surge in Los Angeles. A few years ago, I started having a word for the summer. The first time I chose the word “play.” After many months in school, I wanted my kids to be outside digging around in sand and running around playgrounds.
I’m launching a new Instagram account! @asiancatholicwoman is where I’ll be exploring the Catholic faith through my Asian-American lens.
“I think one thing that’s strengthened in me is an admiration for immigrants... Now, having moved over here, I just feel how hard it is. There are times when I’m with my Thai co-workers in a staff meeting; and there’s who I am, and then there’s this language barrier. All of who I am, the humor, the nuance, it can’t come out. And, that’s hard.”
