Thanksgiving Menu Ideas

All of a sudden, Thanksgiving is upon us. This year, like always, I don’t feel ready for the holiday season to start! I’m telling myself to just take things one step at a time.

This week, I’ve just started getting ideas for our Thanksgiving meal. I thought I would share some of the recipes across the web that have been catching my eye. What are you making? Please share some ideas and links!

THE TURKEY

Perfect Roast Turkey: I don’t have a lot on this one, but I trust Ina Garten with my roast chicken recipe, so I trust her with my turkey.

OH SO DELICIOUS SIDES

Giada’s Mashed Potatoes: The secret ingredient, mascarpone!

“Soul Sweet ‘Taters”: The sweet potato wonder, marshmallow topping replaced with a brown sugar/butter/pecan top.

Sausage and Herb Stuffing

Cranberry-Orange Sauce: Cranberry and orange are a match made in heaven.

Garlicky Green Beans: **Blanch the beans a little longer depending on how thick they are.

Roasted Root Vegetable Salad

Clover Leaf Rolls

DESSERT, AKA, THE BEST PART

Classic Pumpkin Pie with Pecan Praline Sauce: You can’t go wrong with a classic, and just the thought of the pecan praline sauce is already making me drool.

Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding: I did this last year, it was DELICIOUS.

Pear, Apple, and Cranberry Crisp

Individual Apple Tarts: An alternative to another pie, the use of puff pastry makes this an easy one too.

FOR THE DAYS AFTER, WITH ALL THOSE LEFTOVERS

Turkey Tettrazini

Turkey and Corn Enchiladas

Shepherds Pie: Use turkey instead of the lamb and you can also swap out the mashed potatoes for sweet potato.

Turkey Pot Pie

Are you making the entire Thanksgiving meal, Sarah?

I loved making sticky toffee pudding last year too. Thinking of doing a steamed gingerbread pudding with bourbon sauce (from Tartine bakery’s cookbook) this year.

Plans have been really up in the air for us, but as of today, it looks like I’ll be able to cook with our friends who are joining us. I just saw the Tartine cookbook at the library! It looked really intimidating so I didn’t check it out… That dessert sounds amazing.

What do you think?
