one. We had a family photo shoot recently and got to see how the photos turned out this week. They’re awesome, we love them so much! Our good friends who did the shoot definitely worked their magic though, I’m surprised we got any photos out of it at all! The photo shoot ended up being right during Caleb’s nap time, and Gianna started melting down toward the end. It’s completely chaotic to do photos with a toddler and newborn, if you were wondering. We had to bribe Gianna at the end with food, and some of it ended up in the photos. I guess that’s just life these days?

two. Before both Caleb and Gianna were born, I had really helpful conversations with a friend about the concept of it taking a village to raise a child. I’ve been thinking a lot about how we can create our village, here. In our home, right in the middle of silicon valley. It seems like an impossible task, maybe, but I found this recent blog post really helpful in imagining what it could look like.

three. I mentioned in a recent post that it’s harvest time over here in our backyard farm! Recently, we added asian pears into the mix. My husband had the great idea to start keeping tabs on how much produce we were pulling in. I thought we would try it for at least the month of August. With our handy digital scale, the first day of weighing in put us in at 1lb of green beans, 2 cucumbers, 1 bunch of chard, 2 pints of tomatoes, and 8lbs (!!) of asian pears.

four. So, what to do with all those tomatoes? Conveniently, several of my favorite blogs featured recipes with tomatoes that I’m excited to try! Burst tomato galettequiona with sweet tomatoes, green beans, + basil, and an heirloom tomato tart. Yum!

five. I know a lot of people turning 30 this year, myself included! Olivia Wilde wrote a pretty hilarious article for Glamour magazine with “advice for turning the big 3-0.”

six. Alright, let’s talk about the Bachelorette finale and how I was actually on Team Drew going into it. I didn’t really think she was going to pick him, but man, he really liked her didn’t he? I couldn’t help but root for the poor guy. After watching the finale though, I found myself firmly moved over to Team Chris. I’m not really into the whole poetry thing and he’s a little dorky, but him and Des are pretty dang cute together. Here’s to them living happily ever after! That would be nice.

seven. Gianna recently started to love to dance, it’s so much fun! These days, you can often find us having a little dance party in our living room. What is Gianna’s song of choice? You know it’s all about Carly Rae Jepsen, on repeat. Listen to it, and get your dance on.

Having family pictures made has always been torture for me. But it’s time to do it again, and thankfully we now have a photographer in the family. She just did a photo shoot with my youngest and they are without a doubt the best pictures he’s ever had taken. I think it makes SUCH a different when the photographer knows their subjects personally 🙂

What do you think?
