A few weeks ago, we celebrated Caleb’s first birthday! My little guy got a taste of his first cake and frosting (the healthiest version I could conjure up) and decided to start taking his first steps just a few days shy of turning one. We’re enjoying a more mobile baby, and no, I’m not ready to start calling him a toddler yet.

First Birthday Party, Simplified

As with Gianna’s first birthday party, my mom went all out in making a delicious Korean feast. Not so similar to Gianna’s party, though, was that on my end, I kept things a lot more simple. I went shopping for decorations a few days before the party and picked up the perfect felt birthday banner (which we will use forever from here on out), as well as some cute party horns, and scrapbook paper.

The paper was turned into varying sized circles, traced from a few different sized bowls and cups from our cupboards. My sister-in-law and cousin cut them all out an hour or so before the party started and used masking tape to create a fun, whimsical design on the windows behind our food table. I loved how it turned out! The only other decorations with had were a few balloons out front to show where the party was, and our Ikea chalkboard with the dinner menu.

I learned this time around that keeping things simple is a good thing.
